The dissolution of the USSR in late 1991 is undoubtedly one of the most significant events in international society of the late twentieth century. This led to the emergence of fifteen new states and as a result, to the appearance of different processes of succession of states. However, the end of the USSR did not mean the end of territorial, ethnic or national tensions, which were sometimes cruelly manifested in the new recently constituted States, causing secession processes that have led to the emergence of de facto States and that have been perpetuated over time with the support of Russia.
