Abstract

Regulated for the first time in article I of the 1966 International Covenants on Human Rights, internal self-determination is configured as a collective human right which is linked to the democracy, whose subject is the people constituted in a state and whose content is related to the rights of political participation and the procedural aspects of the democratic principle. So have reminded the Spanish constitutional bodies that have ruled on the Catalan question. The international order does not go far regarding the internal dimension of self-determination and its generic proclamation.
